In the mid-1990s, the rise of a new genre of music emerged. Influenced by two seemingly opposing forces in music, Hip Hop and Hard Rock, Nu Metal broke ground and gave way to new sounds and new bands like Korn, Deftones, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit. In this episode, Sam Dunn explores the genre which he questions the methods of Nu Metal and its connection with the Metal family. Surprising starts come from bands such as Anthrax, Pantera and Faith No More to the creation of the genre in the mid-1990s and leads unfortunate events that conspired in Woodstock in 1999 which lead to Nu Metal's decline soon thereafter.
